  • MTFC's last game of the season

    As part of our partnership with Mansfield Town Community Trust, some children were given tickets to watch MTFC's last game of the season.

    These children were nominated by staff for their dedication and hard work in PE lessons, for always trying their best and and their enthusiasm during our recent Blue and Yellow Day.

    The children have spoken very highly about the experience and were very lucky to watch a game with 9 goals!

  • Competition Winners

    We are incredibly proud to celebrate Stanley and Arthur for winning the ‘Bin Lorry’ competition! 

    Both boys designed eye-catching posters promoting recycling and reusing, and their fantastic work was chosen from all the entries. Even more exciting, their designs will now be featured on a brand-new bin lorry that will be travelling around Sutton-in-Ashfield!

    What an amazing achievement – well done, Stanley and Arthur!

  • Year 4 Residential

    Year 4 enjoyed an unforgettable residential trip to PGL, where they truly represented the school with pride. Their exceptional behaviour was noticed and praised by many of the activity leaders, highlighting their kindness, teamwork and positive attitude throughout the visit. The children embraced every opportunity, throwing themselves into a wide range of exciting activities with enthusiasm and determination. They especially loved the experience of sharing rooms with their friends, which made the trip even more memorable, and the food was a big hit too! It was a fantastic experience for all, filled with fun, challenge and friendship.

  • Dress like Art Day

    Today we celebrated world art day by spending the day dressed up as our favourite artwork, piece of artwork or inspired by anything art related! There were some fantastic outfits today and it has been a great to see all the children so enthusiastic about our enquiry!

  • Illustrator visit

    As part of our curriculum enquiry hook, F2 had a visit from illustrator, Zoe Ashley. Zoe spoke to us about how she got into illustrating and about what an illustrator does - it was interesting to find out how an illustrator is different to an artist! We also saw lots of the card designs that Zoe has designed and drawn herself!

  • Blue and Yellow Day

    As part of our partnership with Mansfield Town Community Trust, we held our first 'Blue and Yellow Day' on Friday. It was great to see everyone dressed in Mansfield Town football kits and blue or yellow to celebrate the club.

    During the afternoon, the children took part in sports activities with Sammy the Stag and met some of the players for a Q&A session.

  • F2 trip into Sutton

    We had a fantastic time on our trip into Sutton this week. We looked out for familiar places that we had learned about, such as Tesco and St.Johns Church. We visited Hays Travel where we shared our knowledge about Great Britain and we finished off with a trip to the Library.

  • Break the Rules Day

    We want to say a HUGE thank you for your incredible support and generosity during our very first Mapplewells Break the Rules Day. The day was a roaring success — the children had a fantastic time embracing their inner rule‑breakers, and the whole school enjoyed the fun, laughter, and creativity that filled the day. We raised an amazing £550.00!

    The School Council is excited to use this money to purchase brand‑new playtime equipment for all children to enjoy. And yes… we will definitely be bringing Break the Rules Day back next year.

  • KS2 Launch New Healthy Tuck Shop

    Our KS2 Healthy Tuck Trolley is now up and running, proudly managed by our Year 6 children each morning break. Everything on the trolley is 50p or less, and there’s a great selection of fresh, healthy snacks for the children to choose from.

    The Year 6 team are doing a fantastic job, and it’s wonderful to see so many pupils enjoying healthier options at break time.

    As part of our Science week learning, this week F2 have had a delivery of caterpillars! We thought carefully about the questions that we wanted to find out about them, with the children asking questions like 'what do they eat?' And 'how do they turn into butterflies?' We can't wait to look after them and watch them grow!

  • Troy Story Performance

    Our talented Year 3 and 4 pupils recently performed Troy Story, a fun and lively retelling inspired by the famous tale of the Trojan Horse. Full of humour, adventure and memorable characters, the production showcased the children’s hard work, creativity and growing confidence on stage. We were incredibly proud of their efforts and hope everyone who attended enjoyed the fantastic performance.

  • World Book Day at The City Ground

    As part of our World Book Day celebrations, a group of our UKS2 children had the fantastic opportunity to visit the home of Nottingham Forest—the world‑famous City Ground. It was a truly special experience that combined the joy of reading with the excitement of football.

    The children were treated to an exclusive behind‑the‑scenes stadium tour, exploring areas usually reserved for players and staff. They also visited the Nottingham Forest museum, where they learned more about the club’s proud history and achievements.

    Following the tour, the group took part in a series of football‑themed reading activities, designed to inspire a love of books through the world of sport. The children showed great enthusiasm throughout and represented Mapplewells brilliantly.

    It was a memorable day for everyone involved—full of learning, inspiration, and a touch of Forest magic!
