  • Year 5/6 books & biscuits morning

    On Thursday morning, parents and carers of children in Year 5 and 6 were invited into the school to join us for a relaxing books and biscuits morning. The children were able to select or share stories they enjoy reading and read alongside parents and carers. The morning was a shining success with such a brilliant turn out! It was fantastic to see all of the children sharing stories with you all and building on their love for reading. We would like to pass on a huge thank you to all that arrived and shared the experience with their children. The children had a fantastic morning and thoroughly enjoyed sharing some stories with you.

  • Let's Go ZERO

    On Thursday, KS2 children welcomed a visitor from Let's Go ZERO, a charity dedicated to helping schools achieve zero carbon emissions by 2030. The visitor engaged the children in a discussion about the causes of climate change and global warming. The children were also encouraged to identify actions they could take to help reduce the school's carbon footprint, which will be incorporated into the whole-school action plan. It was an inspiring and productive morning!

  • Where would you like to explore?

    To kick start our new enquiry question in F2 'where would you like to explore?', we had a day all about the United Kingdom. We came to school wearing the colours of the Union Jack, sang the national anthem and we had a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

  • Roman day

    The Year 3 and 4 children enjoyed having a Roman day to showcase their learning in Mapplewells Museum.

    They were able articulate their knowledge about the Romans and explain the different ways the Romans have changed and influenced Britain.

    Parents were invited into school and enjoyed looking at the Roman showcase!

  • Y5 carol concert

    On Wednesday 11th December, Y5 children proudly represented our school and performed a selection of Christmas songs and carols in our local shopping centre - Idlewells. The children loved performing the Christmas songs and so did the public. We definitely put a smile on many faces and spread some Christmas cheer!

  • F1 & The Rotary Club plant crocus bulbs

    This week the Rotary Club came to school to talk to us about their initiative to raise awareness for polio, a disease that continues to impact communities around the world, mainly affecting children under 5 years of age.

    Together with our F1 children The Rotary Club planted crocus bulbs in front of school on Henning Lane. The crocus, a flower that blooms in the early spring, was chosen for its vibrant colors and its connection to the global campaign to eradicate polio.

    We look forward to seeing these crocuses bloom in the spring, a beautiful reminder of the ongoing fight for a polio-free world.

  • KS1 Nativities​​​​​​​

    We had an amazing week of Nativities this week as Years 1 and 2 got to showcase their talents in their nativity. The children have worked exceptionally hard to learn their lines, sing their songs and put wonderful performances. Throughout the week they have performed to packed houses and rapturous applause. Well done to all who took part and thank you to all the staff for their hard work and time putting on the performance. We are very proud of everyone!

  • F1 Cosy Morning

    While the rest of the school was at the Panto, F1 had snuggle and a movie day, where children came to school in pyjamas or something comfy along with a teddy and blanket They enjoyed a treat while watching a fun film and had a wonderful time.

  • Roman Bread Making

    During the Autumn term Year 3 and 4 have been learning all things Romans!

    In their Design and Technology lessons the children have been learning about the diet of the Romans and how this may look very different to our diets today. Today Maple, Oak and Juniper all had a go at making and tasting their own Roman bread creations flavoured with some rosemary. The children have had a fantastic time and have shown some excellent creativity and culinary skills in their making of the bread!

  • Nottinghamshire County Cross Country Event

    A big well done to the Year 5/6 pupils who represented Mapplewells at the Nottinghamshire County Cross Country Event last weekend. The children ran amazingly well and showed great sportsmanship in supporting each other - we couldn't be more proud! 

    Also, a huge thank you to Miss Christie, Mrs Warren and all of the family members who give up their Saturday mornings to support these events. We couldn't do it without you!

  • BBC Children in Need 2024​​​​​​​

    A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Children in Need fundraiser today! It was fantastic to see so many children and staff dressed up in pyjamas, onesies and spots to raise money for such a worthy cause.

    Thanks to your generosity and participation, we raised an amazing £185 to support children in need across the UK. Well done, everyone! Your support makes a real difference, and we are so proud of our school community for coming together to help those who need it most.

  • Pre-loved Uniform

    We are excited to announce a Preloved Uniform Exchange available in the courtyard! This initiative is a great opportunity for families to take gently used school uniforms completely free of charge. If your family can make use of any uniform, feel free to take whatever you need—no questions asked.

    How it works:

    • Location: The courtyard

    • When: Every Friday morning and afternoon

    • What to take: Simply help yourself to whatever you need!

    This is a wonderful way to support one another and ensure that everyone has access to the uniform their children need.

    Note: We are not accepting uniform that you may wish donate at this stage as we have limited storage in school.
