  • Foundation Illustrator Visit

    F1 and F2 were very fortunate to have an illustrator come to visit. Karin Littlewood came into school and shared her illustrated story 'Immi' with the children. The children then worked alongside Karin to create their very own story necklaces. It was a very fun day!

    Thank you so much to all the parents that attended the Phonics Coffee Morning this week. We talked everything phonics and even practised some sounding out and blending together.   • Year 3/4 Stone Age Settlement

    On Tuesday, Year 3 and 4 became immersed in a replica Stone Age settlement. We learnt how to make dens to survive, identify which food Stone Age people ate, learnt about the Skara Brae settlements, and developed our knowledge of how they communicated through cave paintings. We also made Stone Age jewellery out of natural resources we could find, just like the Hunter-gatherers did.

  • KS1 at Newstead Abbey

    KS1 had an amazing day at Newstead Abbey exploring what life was like in the Victorian era. We experienced what a Victorian classroom would be like, learning about the back straightner, the dunce hat and what kind of lessons they would have learnt. We also headed to the kitchen where we helped the cook to make butter. Then finally we went under the stairs with the servant maid who showed us how to make herb bags that were used when people were feeling poorly. The children really were engaged in the day and took away lots of interesting learning.

  • WW1 Day - Years 5 and 6

    Year 5 and 6 children took part in the WWI workshop. They learnt many interesting facts about the Great War and experienced the life of a soldier in the trenches through the virtual reality headsets. Additionally, the children loved looking at different memorabilia from the war and even got a change to try on some old uniforms!
