Homework is set on a Monday morning and will be marked on the following Monday. The children will stick in their homework sheet in their homework books ready to take home. All homework will be a consolidation of previous learning and not new learning.

Autumn 2025: How far have we come?

This term, our Year 3 and 4 children will travel back to the Stone Age as they explore the question: How far have we come? From creating Stone Age-inspired art and interviewing adults in role as prehistoric people, to a STEM workshop on rocks, a virtual tour of Skara Brae and a fossil hunt at Forest School, the children will step into the shoes of early humans. They will also transform themselves into Stone Age avatars using Purple Mash and hear from Sutton-in-Ashfield Library about our local heritage. All of this learning will be brought together in the children’s very own ‘Mapplewells Museum’, where they will proudly showcase their writing, artwork and discoveries — with feedback from a real museum expert. By the end of the enquiry, the children will have a deeper understanding of life in the past and just how far we’ve come.
