Our Music Curriculum
Through our music curriculum we provide enriched opportunities for pupils to immerse themselves in the world of music through singing, dancing, playing instruments and learning about great composers. We work closely with Nottinghamshire Music Service to provide our pupils an engaging and enriched experience that develops a love for music.

Our Music Curriculum will enable pupils to:
Make music and dance, and experiment with ways of changing them
Sing a variety of songs throughout the year that cover a range of different cultures
Read musical notation
Learn about great composers
Perform musical ensembles and sole performances
Play a variety of instruments
Take musical instruments home
Have a deep knowledge of musical terms such as chord, melody, quaver, strumming
Have opportunities to watch and listen to orchestral/choral performances.
Conduct music
Participate in assemblies which all have a singing focus.

Pupil Voice
Music Showcase
All children at Mapplewells are given multiple opportunities to perform to an audience throughout the year. Children learn to play instruments and sing a variety of songs from many different genres. Performances are often linked to children’s enquiry learning and allow them to become fully immersed in these topics.

Glee Club
Glee club is run throughout the year and gives children who love to sing the opportunity to learn many different songs and perform in a number of fantastic venues locally and further afield throughout the year.
