Story time with Michael Morpurgo
During World Book Day, our Year 6 pupils listened to Michael Morpurgo reading his World Book Day 2022 story 'Jemima the Pig and the 127 Acorns'.

World Book Day is getting off to an amazing start! Mapplewells is snuggling up with a good book!
Class Winners - 3rd February 2021
A big well done to this week's class reading winners!
Elm class were the winners from EYFS and KS1 with a whopping total of 101 reads!
Oak class were the winners from KS2 with a total of 80 reads!
Storytelling in EYFS
The children in F2 have been very excited to create their own stories this week.
They used the story dice to create their stories and told them to their friends!
National Storytelling Week - Sharing Stories
As part of National Storytelling Week, the children at Mapplewells have paired up with another class to share our favourite stories with one another.
We have had a great week sharing and retelling stories!
Playtime Reading
Children in Juniper class have set up their own 'Reading Club' at playtimes.
Today, they were found reading their favourite books and talking about why they enjoyed reading them!
Chinese New Year - National Storytelling Week
The children in Year 5 have been learning the story behind Chinese New Year recently. They used their story telling skills to retell the story to their partners using pictures and actions as prompts.
Reading sheds
The children at Mapplewells are really enjoying using the Fiction and Non-Fiction reading sheds at the front of school during the school day.
Classes have allocated time slots to use these within lessons and all children also have access to them if they choose to during playtimes and lunchtimes.
