Shakespeare Day 2016
Review written by pupils in Year 6:
To our joy, yesterday we were fortunate enough to watch a re-creation of Shakespeare’s classic King Leah. Performed by the amazing Sky Blue Theatre Company, this tragedy had us laughing from the beginning until the end.
The play focuses on King Leah and his three daughters, Goneril, Regan and Cordelia and is set in the 8th Century. Sky Blue’s set design has immediate impact even before the action begins. The backdrop sets the tone as the famous Globe Theatre, with chairs set out for each actor. Swords, daggers and various other weapons provide the audience with great excitement and intrigue.
Without a doubt, the main highlight of this play was the amount of comedy; with the crowd laughing continuously. Overall, this play gets a clear recommendation and is perfect for children who want to learn all about Shakespeare in a fun and informative way.
